Our Story
Our Story
One beautiful day on a Texas highway, the lives of the Mosher family changed forever. In a split second, what had begun as a family vacation ended in tragedy. A head-on collision took Paul Mosher's life, leaving his wife Abby and 7-year-old son, Dustin, hospitalized. In an instant, Paul's infectious smile became a memory, leaving Abby and Dustin devastated and alone in their grief. Abby knew that something positive had to come from their senseless loss. As she and Dustin worked to rebuild their lives, their only option for grief support was private therapy. Thankfully, they had health insurance that covered mental health, but Abby was saddened when she thought of the thousands of children in our community who didn't have that same benefit. That's how Tomorrow's Rainbow was born.

The Birth of an Idea
The Birth of an Idea
As a child, Abby Mosher had always wanted a horse. She would skim the newspaper classified ads looking for a horse that cost $200—the amount of birthday money she had saved over her 12 years. While she never got her childhood horse, Abby never let go of her dream. Life, as it does, had a different plan with a bigger herd in mind for her.
Weeks after the Mosher family's tragic accident, Dustin returned to 2nd grade, and Abby resumed her role as a PTA mom. They tried their best to get back into their routine, doing the fun things they enjoyed before the accident. Baseball, Cub Scouts, video games, swimming, friends, and family all helped to soften their journey. What they didn’t realize at the time was that their friendship with the Hennessey family would change the way our community supports grieving children forever.
Going to the track to watch Wally Hennessey, a Hall of Fame harness racing driver, was a favorite escape from reality. When Wally won a race, Dustin and Abby would join his wife and daughter, Barb and Kristy, at the winner’s circle for a picture. There was something unexplainable about Wally and the horse that found its way into Abby’s soul. There they were, covered in wet track sand and sweat, with lights flashing, noises, and people all around...yet Wally seemed perfectly peaceful. Whatever “that” was, Abby wanted it.
Three years later, Abby met Shel and shared her dream with him. Immediately, it became their dream, and Tomorrow’s Rainbow was born. Now, Abby and Shel, along with a wonderful herd of miniature horses, UK Shetland ponies, horses, donkeys, and goats, live together at Tomorrow’s Rainbow. This very special place has become an oasis for children, teens, and families experiencing grief, loss, or trauma.
